11:58am Flexible Working Across The NSW Government Sector: Making ‘If Not, Why Not’ Work / Cat Coghlan, Public Service Commission The Government committed to making all roles flexible in the NSW government sector on the basis of ‘if not, why not’ by 2019. Flexible working is about rethinking the where, when and how work can be done, in a way that maintains or improves service delivery for the people of NSW. It does not mean every role, or every individual, can or should (or has to) work flexibly. The approach of ‘if not, why not’ democratises and mainstreams flexible working so that everyone is able to begin a conversation about what type of flexible working is available to them, regardless of the reason for why they are seeking it. The NSW Public Service Commission has developed a range of guidance for employees and employers about flexible working.

1:08pm Breast Screening Talk / Tammy Yam, BreastScreen NSW Breast cancer is the second biggest cancer killer of Australian women, yet only half of eligible women aged 50-74 in NSW are being screened regularly. We’ll explore the latest breast cancer stats/risk factors and discuss why a 2-yearly breast screen (mammogram) is important for this cohort age group. A breast screen NSW appointment is free and takes around 20 minutes. Given the facts above - it is vitally important that you are aware and informed of the risks and how to mitigate them. Come and join us for a breast screening talk.

To better support workers, the team at the Office of Preventive Health has developed an integrated online tool that addresses both mental and physical health by helping workers identify their risks of ill-health,
offering tailored health advice and providing evidence-based resources and referrals to support services. The Get Healthy at Work program also works with businesses to create environments that better support their workers’ mental health and wellbeing.
